Lucky King
About This Spot
Lucky King sits quietly among the vibrant hum of Grand Street, a familiar corner for those drawn to the comforting rhythms of a classic Chinese bakery. As you step inside, the gentle warmth of freshly baked dough mingles with the delicate sweetness of traditional pastries, inviting you into a world where time moves at a pleasant, unhurried pace despite the bustling neighborhood just outside.
The space hums softly with the sound of quiet conversations and the occasional clattering of plates, framed by the aromatic allure of mooncakes cooling on the counter and the subtle roast of coffee brewing in the background. Staff move deftly yet unhurriedly, a steady presence that brings a sense of calm to what could otherwise feel rushed during busy moments. The experience here leans into a relaxed rhythm: a slow morning visit for a hot milk tea and a flaky pineapple bun, or a midday pit stop savoring the layered flavors of dim sum paired with a cold brew.
Lucky King is more than just a bakery—it’s a place where familiar tastes and textures carry stories of home and tradition, threaded gently through every bite. The variety is generous without overwhelming, offering little discoveries from sesame balls to fried shrimp putty, each crafted with care and a sense of authenticity that’s perceptible in the simple pleasure of sharing food. Whether you're craving something light and herbal or a rich, custardy Portuguese pastry, the menu unfolds like a thoughtful journey rather than a checklist.
This is a spot where locals linger just long enough to soak in the atmosphere, yet feel the comforting nudge to keep moving through their day. The space’s old-school charm is balanced by a quiet efficiency that suits the neighborhood’s pulse, welcoming early risers and casual visitors alike. Lucky King doesn’t call attention to itself with flashiness; instead, it embraces an enduring warmth that feels like a gentle nod to generations before and those who will come after.

Pretty good Chinese bakery right off grand street subway station. Scallion, bacon hot dog bun was tasty. Their iced honey milk tea is excellent. We also got dry shrimp noodles and a pork bun. Overall solid experience. 30 minute time limit to eat their food, not sure how strictly that’s enforced.

This bakery has such a great variety of food and drinks. There’s so much to choose from - dim sum, rice boxes, cakes, desserts, herbal drinks and more! Everything I’ve had has done a fine job of fixing my hunger pangs. It can get busy and the staff do their best to fulfill orders quickly.

Classic bakery in Chinatown. Delicious HK milk tea plus all my favorite bakery items (pineapple buns, roast pork buns) and dim sum (fried and steamed!). Perfect way to spend an early Saturday morning

The pork floss bun was pretty good. The pineapple bun was also good. Buns are not labeled so you need to brush up on your Chinese or point. Many of the baked goods are not in the glass case but behind the server, on the cooling racks.
